Going Long with WordPress

I’m volunteering to direct a new ultramarathon for the Maine Track Club.  This new road-running race is called the Farm To Farm Ultra Run.  Lace up your shoes (or whatever it is you do with Vibram 5 Fingers, if that’s how you jog) because Farm To Farm’s gonna be awesome.

I hope to open race registration soon.  First the website…

WordPress is ideally suited for creating a website and managing content for a running event like Farm To Farm.  I just whipped up the above-linked WP site using the PageLines/Platform Pro framework.  The more I use it, the more I like it. I particularly like the slider for the home page.  The layout/design features are “drag and drop,” so you don’t have to mess with code too much.  And once you get your bearings on the PageLines settings, you can customize things relatively quickly.

I still like using the RichWP framework.  RichWP’s not quite as slick, but it’s probably easier to get the hang of and better out of the box for quickly launching a blog that doesn’t look like everything else out there.
